Audio Shop in Phoenix

Do you guys know of a good audio shop in the Phoenix area? Looking to great a new head unit, since the volume knob on mine is shot (when you turn it down it turns up and visa versa, sometimes it works fine).

Plus, I want to reinstall my CB.

installing a cd player is really easy like putting air in your tires

If you get the radio from crutchfield they give you directions and an adapter plug, solder that on to the harness that comes with the radio and it plugs right into the Toyota harness. You may need the Toyota brackets and pocket.

I can do it if you want, it is not that hard. Only take an hour or two.

Quick question for the factory wiring harness that connects to the OEM head unit should there only be one?

I went head and pulled everything apart tonight and discovered that there is a single factory wiring harness. Two wiring adaptors came with the kit from crutchfield and neither one of the fit.

Did some searching for wiring harness from other sites and they all show two adaptors to connect and aftermarket deck.

Do I have a mutant of a 4runner (OEM deck with cd and cassette) or what?

Wormhole- Crutch field provided you with two adapters. One plugs into the back of your new receiver/head unit and the other plugs into your 4 runners existing wiring harness. Then all you have to do is splice the two together.

Good luck!

There are two. You are eliminating the amp. Remove that as well. One is amp other is radio.

Okay, maybe this is just proving how stupid I am but if you scroll down to step 1 (http://www.4runners.org/writeups/headunit/index.html) there's a diagram showing the wiring. I have M1 and M2 spliced into SH (the harness that came wit the new radio).

Now the problem is that I have no T2 harness only T1 and the M1 harness is to small to connect to T1 (M2 is half the size of M1). The only other wires connected to the OEM deck is the power antenna and amp (single plug, audio jack thype plug).

Should I even have M2 spliced in at all?

Am I doing something wrong here??

Thanks for the help guys.

You may want to call Crutchfield if the plugs you have do not look like the ones in the picture. You did take the little amp out, the plug from the amp not the radio is the one you plug into. The little plug is speakers if I remember right.

Last year I got a new deck from Crutchfield for the 1999 4Runner and I got all the right stuff and it went in real easy. Just verify you have the right plugs.

I do have a friend who has a shop in Tempe:

My friends name is Mark - give him a call and he can hook you up with just about anything you want. Tell him your friends with Jeff from McFarlane and he'll take care of you. I'm pretty sure he can take care of your CB too.

I would give crutch field a call. Sounds like they supplied you with the wrong harnesses.

Um, would've been nice to know that the factory amp needs to be removed first and that those harness are to be used.

Tonights another night.

Yeah it's the amp plug not the radio plug.
