I ran Ajax yesterday with 3linked84, not with the 4Wheel Parts group, but we did see them, I'll get to that. It was kind of a beginning of the season shake-down run for me and it ended up being a hellacious day by time it was over, but I won't get into all of that. It started with me grenading a Longfield joint and a trunnion bearing on something that I would not even consider an obstacle (used Long's, already compromised, to be fair). Anyway, as I'm sitting on the side of the trail swapping out the birfield, the 4Wheel Parts guys start to trickle by on their way back after running Lower Ajax, in groups of 2-3 rigs. In total, it was about 25 Jeeps and a 4Runner. What disappoints me is that of all those rigs, only 2 slowed down enough to ask if we needed help. We didn't need help of course, as we carry enough parts to be self reliant and don't wheel anything we can't work on, but its the principle of the matter. Is this just standard Jeeper mentality, or or this what our sport is becoming? I can't count how many times my group has helped people out on the trail, everything from spotting to towing to fixing. I guess maybe we're just "old school"?

I don't understand how people can just drive on by without asking if everything is cool. A little bit of good will take you a long way! When it rained really hard last month my neighborhood flooded and I took the beast out and pulled several cars to dry land. Mostly because it gave me a valid excuse to use 4 wheel drive haha!
Thanks Bryan. We should get a run together. Unfortunately, my rig is probably gonna stay parked until I get my trailer finished. When the vibration and rattling get so bad that an experienced truck dog jumps out on the freeway doing 65mph to get away from it, it's time to reconsider the street drivabilty.

This is why you are always invited on our runs.

Nah, won't happen. Just getting tired of the white knuckle drive home after hitting the trails.
Yep, fortunately I got over to the right lane just before he jumped so he landed on the shoulder and didn't get run over. He got a little road rash and is pretty sore but lucked out with no major injury. It was a real eye opener for me though.

Wow! i didnt realize what you said about Ranger till now! I asumed you meant he jumped in the back for some reason, Good to hear he's ok!
I used to hate trailered rigs but now I really see the need for a trailer, for the saftey of the driver and others on the road! To tow a car around to show is one thing but to go beat the piss out of my wheeling rig than not have the time to really look it over before I try to go 60mph for 30 minutes isnt safe! I did many white knuckle rides home, and began to think i only get away with not hurting myself or other for so long.

As for Ranger, if you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough, and he's proving to be pretty damn tough!
