some pics i took today, still waiting for my welder/fabricator to get back to town so we can get the engine mounts in. nothing else can happen till then
notice how clean the supra bellhousing is compared to the truck transmission
I love the sky manufacturing skid plate
Couple good motor shots, you can see the turbo real well in the 4th one. its got a red cover on it to keep s**t out of the turbo
disc brakes are a little rusty since they've been sitting for three months
i have no idea how my passenger side window got busted up, its still being investigated by me
and isnt that intercooler cool looking? cant wait to get it all hooked up

no, thats the tcase that came with the W56, V6 trucks have chain driven Tcases, of which you can't change the gear ratio. 4cyl trucks have the gear driven tcases, much betta for getting a good crawl ratio eventually
we shall call it 30% because i have basically everything major to get the job done now. once the motor is mounted to the frame maybe it can be considered 40%
god i hope its soon, im tired of waiting
window appears to be random-act-o-violence . insurance will take care of it

As for the motor once it's mounted it's only a day or so and some $ before it's done
well the money isnt a problem anymore, everything that costs much is already paid for. What im missing is people that know what they are doing to have the time to help me. I can't do any of this on my own or it woulda been done a long time ago. Im going to get on the welder's a$$ as soon as he gets back to raleigh so hopefully jason (cough cough) and I can begin bringing her to life ASAP

Jermey that is HOT
. That is gona be one ˟˟˟˟en sweet Runner. I can't wait to see it in person. Do you mind running down the prices of all the engine stuff and things needed to make the swap. I would really like to ditch this 22RE it burns oil and is really pokey in the low gears. A 7MGTE or 7MGE would be great and if the price is doable I could see it being done next winter.

well lets see. .
motor was $1000 but you can get them cheaper if you take your time. i wanted mine ASAP so i paid some more. The original motor i bought was $750 with a supra tranny on it. . . so figure $500 for the motor if you dropped the tranny quick. . . or if you took your time you could prob have the motor for like $400 out of pocket. Maybe the deal jason found on the motor that got lost isnt that common but theres some ballpark numbers for the motor. It amazes me how relatively cheap they can be. I also sold my old V6 for $400. coulda gotten more if it were lower miles/ better condition but it was pretty beat up so i took the $400 for it and ran.
other than that the big stuff is
Engine management: $250-$1000+ depending on how fancy you wanna get
Intercooler: i paid $200 for a pretty nice one
Downpipe (sorta like headers if you dont know what that is, but for a turbo) : $100-200 ish
Exhaust: $150 ?
i cant think of any other BIG stuff, just things like new fuel lines, fuel pump, vaccum cylinder, starter, engine harness, msc wires/hoses. probably another $250-$500
as you can see finding the motor is the biggest cost or savings depending on how you look at it
if i think of more stuff ill edit this

put the motor in the truck today, woo hoo
the fit is a little tight, the inline 6 is a helluva lot longer than the old V6. gonna have to get creative with the radiator and intercooler

Now thats a little more like it!! Hehe, and you didn't even take advantage of having no engine in there to clean everything up. Kinda funny the truck is dirty as heck and the engine looks squeeky clean! Can't wait to hear it running! You going to get a good bov/boost controller?
#13
jason said theres a BOV on the way, and i think boost control is handled by the engine management, which we already have
one day this week im probably gonna take just about everything out of the engine bay and clean it up some. It looks really cluttered now but most of that is gonna be gone

Man where are you getting all this cash?
I want whatever job you have, I could really use a little more than the 2,000 I have to spend on my new baby. Funds seem just to fly fast when you start shopping, but you must know that all to well now. Engine looks right at home in the Runner, can't wait to see ya smok'n tires on the rocks.

I guess my question was more towards are you going to add any boost or keep it all stock? I was just thinking and my best friend back home has an HKS EVC-3 Electronic boost controller that he'd sell you for like $200. It's a great little unit, I didn't get to mess with it too much, but having the ability to change the boost on the fly is damn cool.
Just thought I would throw that out... Sounds like you will be up and running in no time!

Jason found me a good deal on complete engine management which is much more flexible than just boost level. I'm not familiar with exactly what it can do but im sure jason can tell us.
And no it will not be running exaclty stock boost. Since i know little about it, and since it wont be certain what the final results end up being untill its actually on a dyno i wont say much more now but i can assure you it will be the coolest thing ever
