Electrical Wiring Question
I've got this neat little dash-mountable winch control switch. I'm trying to figure out, can I run some wires down behind the dash without pulling the dash apart? The wires will go into the engine bay, then to the winch control box.

Ian,
You'll need to pull some panels off, depending where you plan to mount the switch. The wires can run through one of the fire wall holes or you can drill one yourself.
Take a look at these writeups that will give you an idea of how to do it:

Bob and Jon,
Thanks for the input.
Bob, I'll take a look at your website again. The write-ups you have there are such a great resource. I have printed several on our office color copier, put them in plastic page holders, and keep them in a 3-ring binder to refer to whenever I work on the 4Runner. I, for one, am very appreciative for your detailed write-ups and making them available to us.
Jon, a get-together would be great. I'm sure the other guys have stuff they want to do too.

Yes indeedy. I was looking at that inverter write up myself, if I get my AAL's and spare issues resolved then I might be doing it with the big gauge wiring.

i think i figured out all that misc. interior wiring, like the stereo and stuff. but im not worried about that for a while. but the FSM has been more than helpful. icant believe how much it actually has. ive been following the diagnosis flow charts for why the engine turns over but wont fire. i think im on like the 4th page of it. hopefully sooner or later it will lead me to a problem.
