Yota Newb. Need guidance on everything.
I tried searching, but I couldn't find anything specific. I am researching for a friend's 1982 pickup. He just picked it up and want's to do a few things to it. I'm not new to wrenching or 4x4s but I am new to older Toyota pickups so I need some guidance. And as I'm sure you have all heard before, he's on a budget. Doesn't want junk but it's looking to win any contests.
Lift: This thing, from what I can see, has a front SOA and rear lift blocks. The springs are almost flat and we want it more capable. We're looking at the Rough Country full spring lift. Is that designed to go with SOA conversions?
Armor: Looking for a decent, winch ready front bumper. Do you guys recommend any other armor pieces?
Sites: What sites do you guys recommend shopping at?
I hate being the newb and asking these kind of questions, but like I said, I'm new to Yotas. I appreciate any constructive help you can offer.

For lift there's two options more spring arch or longer springs.
For lift and capability then really only one option longer springs. You'll need to weld new hangers. Chevy 63's for the rear and rears up front (RUF) are cheapest but RUFs can cause steering geometry issues if not done right. I went with allpro springs. Trailgear springs are cheaper but have seen missed reviews with their spring.
Most older truck guys ditch the push pull steering box and do a cross over using newer steering box from later year trucks.

all of these questions can truly be answered by searching here on YT or on Google, they have come up many times in the last 32yrs this truck has been around. sounds like your buddy just needs to start reading up on the things he wants to do to the truck. if you have more specific questions later, we'll be happy to help clarify things for you. i suggest you start reading through the 1st gen pickups threads on all the Toyota forums and go from there. even simply looking at images and then going to the build threads (if there is one) of the rig to look for ideas will help a lot.
where are you located? there are toyota fans all over the country and tons of aftermarket support - and very likely both in your area.

I have no doubt the answers are out there and I apologize for potentially wasting anyone's time. I come from a newer Jeep background so this is all a bit new to me. Looking through my Jeep forum is easier with a base of knowledge but Toyota brings a different everything. So, instead of searching pages upon pages of threads and trying to understand a different lingo, thought I'd ask the horse myself. And especially for good sites to go to for parts, there are a lot of shady ones out there, didn't want to find out the hard with my buddy's coin. As for him, between the two of us, I'm the wrench. I have a degree in automotive and he has one in sales/marketing. He asked for my help so that's what I'm doing. Again, my apologies.
I am located in Minnesota, near the North Dakota border.

As stated above chevy 63's in Back, and rear up front (ruf)
I have a good chevy spring thread saved on my computer, but it is over seven hours away
Search a little and ask a little, good info and people here...
