I'm posting this here to hopefully get a broader idea/suggestion base than the 2nd gen trk/1st 4rnr page.

Carpet on inside of 4rnr is coming out. It is destroyed.

Looking for thought/idea on wanting durable and easy to clean. Oh and like everybody on a budget. A formed vinyl carpet insert is like $500 bones. I like the idea of rhino liner but want insulation for sound and temp. In San Antonio right now and have fingers crossed to be someplace more temperate next summer like Alaska ( Wife hates the idea)

So show what you got; tell me your ideas; or rigs you've seen.

line-x will still be pretty expensive but will likely outlast the vinyl, especially if you ever get water up underneath it. i did herculiner in my old k5 blazer and kinda regret doing it just based on the increased noise and heat transfer (it was a diesel). benefit to getting the vinyl is you can still keep sound deadener underneath it, like dynamat and those thick underlayment/felt things.

other options to consider are products like Lizard Skin. there are versions specific to heat block and sound block.

what about doing whatever on the floor, like a spray/roll on product, followed by a customized horse stall mat to sit on top? my buddy had one of those in the back of his chevy pickup and it really cut down on noise, but they are fairly heavy since they are around 1" thick rubber.

I like the lizard skin. Wonder if something else can be applied over it. Research time.

 

I insulated my floor duct wrap and used sound deadening mats. Pics in my build but something is wrong with my image server at the moment. The twenty year carpet is holding up for me I clean it regularly doesn't take much to pull it out. Get a shop vacation or wet/dry and spray it down good with simple green, and vacuum out. The vinyl will clean up easiest, you could find a similar material and shape it with a heat gun. Line x or any other liner like that will be durable but you'll never get it clean again because it's so porous and you couldn't really insulate.
I drive on the beach a bit in barefoot so I like my carpet. I also have those thick walled all weather mats that capture a bunch of mud. Also I sleep/camp in the truck so calling around on the metal without any padding isn't much fun. I found a truck that had a god interior and took everything out I could. My interior was that atrocious red. The donor rig was grey. Get some pics up of your progress.

Mine had a plush aftermarket carpet job that was glued in. It has not fared well with kids and wheelin in PNW. Though I'm in TX now really don't want anything water can soak or get under. Even with being in outdoor storage in central CA I got rust that needs attention.

Found vinyl mats for a lot cheaper than originally thought. But water can still get under.

Shoot some questions to Lizard Skin. Will see what they say but gonna keep eyes open.

 

lowes or home depot sells wall sound supression stuff that my brother and i put in his subi, worked pretty nicely.
