yota lift

i have an 86 toyota pickup 2wd. i was thinking about turning it into a 4wd. i want to add a solid axle in the front. i know i will need a transfer case but will i need a new transmission.

If using a Toyota transfer case, you'll need a transmission which is set up to have a t-case bolted to the output. A W56 would be a good choice, get one with a t-case attached and you'll be ready to go.

Check local junkyards or try http://www.car-part.com/

Could even buy a parts truck to make sure you get everything you need (clutch hydraulics, brackets, pedal, shifters, shifter boots, crossmember, mounts, driveshafts, front axle, etc.).

inchworm gear sells a tcase that you can use its for converting from 2wd to 4wd
