Who has used this suspension setup (Scofco?)

My new Runner is a complete stocker and I need to get it lifted

I have a unique chance to get everything done right the first time so here is what I'm thinking.

Old Man Emu HD coild, shocks and steering stabalizer, Marlin extended length brake line for rear axle, crank stock T-bars to level and then take it to toyota for the steering part recall so they give it a good alighnment.

My goal is to run 32x11.50s with NO rubbing.

I know OME is good stuff and I can get the coils, shocks and steering damper for like $650. Does that sound like a good deal?

Also, I have a TJM w/o a winch, do you think it would be wise to go ahead and get new T-bars and/or ball joint spacers?

I know these are sorta noob questions but I really don't want to search for hours, it just depresses me. Also, I want to include you guys with the buildup, not just people from past posts.

Thanks,
Lamm

my setup:

downey HD coils (including extended rear brake lines): $170
edelbrock shocks: $250
skyjacker ss: $60 (about the same for OME)

does the OME kit include BJ spacers? $650's not outrageous...

Strap22 sell OME T-bars. I hear they are much better than other aftermarket bars.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your truck. Made me take a look at my fuse box.

I highly recommend BJ spacers..it doesn't matter in my opinion what t-bars you have. I have my stock ones very relaxed and when I add a bumper and winch I will tighten them up just enough to make up for the extra weight. Any of the coils will be good. For the rear I would probably go with cruiser coils if I did it over again.

I am sure you have seen many pics of 95's, but here is how they sit on 33x10.5 At's., BJ spacers, and Downey coils.

I might go with a Downey spring set up. Is there a bracket or something for the LSPV valve, or do you just leave it where it is?

Also, I have herd its a biig PITA to install BJ spacers, there is some cutting or something? It this true?

Sorry for semi hijacking this post, but I have a doubt about the BJ Spacers...

I have rear HD coils that lift 4cm (1.6'' aprox.) and now I have the front 0.8'' lower than the back. I want to leave the truck the same height front and rear, and also like the BJ Spacer benefits on the travel.

I have stock T-Bars and no aftermarket bumpers so the ride is fine. I'm a bit concerned about installing BJ Spacers and loosing my T-Bars to get the 0.8'' lift I want now and the front suspension becoming too much loose... I like the stiffness it has now, if I relax the T-Bars will the truck become too much soft in the front?

I drive w/o front swaybar so this also worries me.

Thanks,

David

Lamm

the downey kit comes with a bracket and extended brake line...

can't opine on the BJ spacers b/c i don't have any...

i have my stock tbars cranked to almost 15" but i think even though i don't have a heavy aftermarket bumper i may move up to the SAW 25mm tbars b/c the nose dips a bit when braking...

what i did on my '89 (should be the same on a 2nd gen, but i can't verify) is to just bend the rod that goes from the axle to the LSPV. i put OME's 2" rear springs on and then just bent the rod such that the LSPV was in the right position. i've had no problems.

Just noticed this thread, so I'll give my 2 cents since I'm in the bloody subject line

If I had to do it over again, I wouldn't do OME coils in the rear. I think they ride like crap, and my rear end doesn't sit even (yes I installed them correctly).

Here is how I would do it if I were to do it a 2nd time around:
Downey coils with a 1" spacer in the rear.
With an ARB or TJM I'd do the SAW 25MM's and 1" BJ spacers in the front.
(Screw shocks unless they really bug you. I'd do Rancho 9000s next time with the in-cab control kit)
The OME steering damper I don't have any beef with though. She's hefty
With that setup, jump up to 33's. I can fully stuff my 32's with room to spare.

Hope that helps someone.

my 90:

Up front: crappy cheap 5000 ranchos, no bj spacers, cranked up to 15inches from rim Downey 25mm torsion bars with arb bumper(stock bars couldnt handle the extra weight)
In the rear I have All Pro 1.5 inch spacers with 2inch coil spacers from strap22. I have a Panhard bar drop bracket on the way. As it sits, all 4 fenders are Exactly even with eachother. I have stock length shocks in the rear which are now at full flex. I'm not a hardcore off roader, more of a dirt trail, mud, small rock type, so I'm not concerned with maximum rear flex, however I still need to put longer shocks on, which would require longer brake line. I have thought about bj spacers only for less stress on the front end. Otherwise I am very happy with the way it rides and looks. I really don't think I'd change a thing. I've got 33x10.50 mud terrain and I have no rubbing at full lock. Rear, not sure about compression since shocks limit flex at the moment.

i used to have those shocks too, and they really ARE crappy. you'll REALLY appreciate the difference when you switch 'em out. i was kicking myself for waiting so long!

i've wondered the same thing. i like the firm ride and don't need massive flex for the kind of offroading i do, so i've been planning to just upgrade to OME 23.4mm t-bars and keep 'em slightly cranked to keep the ride level. i don't plan on getting an HD bumper and hear complaints about the SAW 25mms...
