weight of black steelies
Ok, it's come down to Wheelers black aluminum wheels or 15x8 black steelies with the round holes. The deciding factor is coming down to the weight. The Wheelers website claims the alum wheels are 24 lbs....does anyone know the weight of a 15x8 black steelie with thr round holes? Sad to say, but I do most of my driving on the road and want to keep that rotating weight down as gas prices keep going up. Thanks!

yeah at least 35
but i just wrestled with 4 stock steels. Off a 90-95 runner 15x7
and those felt like a plate (45 pounds) or more. Just the wheel no tire
But i worked at discount and any after market steel wheel is a little lighter
then you would expect. They use some weak steel. not the heavy stuff from the factory like mine.
I would think each wheel is 10-15 pounds more then the shinny ones.

my 15x8s with diy beadlocks and 37" PBR's weigh 120lbs a piece. the rockers are 74lbs.... 120-74-diy beadlocks (2 rings, the weld, 39 bolts, nuts and washers) = rim
So I guess my 35lb number seems low...

Thanks for the replies guys. Based on that info, I'll probably go with the Wheelers alum wheels. 10lbs of rotating weight is fairly significant especially when most of it is probably in the width where the tire mounts, not the "spoked" part. Too bad I'll still wait to get a few thousand more miles out of my current BFGs.
Here's another question.....if your truck has 33x10.5s, would you rather have a brand new 31x10.50 Goodyear Wrangler RT-S (or whatever came stock in 2000) or a 33x10.50 BFG with about 50K miles on it as a spare?? I'm leaning towards leaving the 31 as the spare cause it's still got full tread and a worn down 33 probably isn't much bigger diametrically.
