the local bone yard just got a 02 TRD tundra in, and they will sell the coil and strut assembly for $100 a side. they wont just sell the coils, i would have to get the strut too, which i don't need and don't think i can use. it would be going on an 03 taco. i was planning on getting the toytec adjustable coils, but these tundra spring would be alot more cost effective.

any thoughts?

 

is it a TRD? that's pretty-much a must to get the progressive coils - especially for a tacoma.

which struts are on it? if they are the red or yellow bilsteins, then you can sell them off on tundrasolutions and get some of your money back. if they are the black OEM struts, then they are made by tokico and would work fine for what you're doing. all you'd have to do at that point would be to change out the top plate so it would fit on your tacoma.

don't use 'em. sell them. make sure to get the mileage on the truck if you can.

as most would say, do it right the first time.
if you can afford it, Id go with the toytecs now. I love mine.

 

thats just it, i can't afford it right now, the toytec is what i really want. but if i got these i could spend the extra $500 on something else. am i really going to be able to notice a difference between the 2? it's about the same amount of lift.

 

i never ran the "tundra" lift, so i cant comment on it, i had the stock set-up with spacers, then went with the Toytec coil-overs, and yes, a huge difference, the new coil-overs are sooo much nicer, on and off road, compaired to my old spacer lift.

 

I really like my tundra lift. If I could do it over, I would go with the 890s in the rear instead of the 891s.

I still want to swap out my OMES up front to the tokicos. Make sure you get the extended studs and the 3/8s spacer from bamachem and wheelersoffroad

 

see this is tuff for me, i want a lift the tundra coils seem to be liked well and perform good and are cheap. but i don't think there would be an argument saying the toytec's perform better. but $500 is a big difference.

is $200 for both a decent price

 

If the yellow/blue paint code means TRD then snipe these off ebay. (I dont' know if that's the right paint code - troll the trd lift post to find out)

EDIT - no recently closed auctions for coils only to compare. I'd wager the closing price for the set is <100$. If you're willing to wait around you can get a deal. I won an auction for both complete struts for 30$ because the guy listed as "tundra springs" not "tundra coils".
