Trouble Shifting into 4wd

1992 4runner SR5
last ngiht i ran opver a rock after making a stupid mistake and not walking a downhill before going over the edge (wasnt to steep.. but a 2 foot rock was in the trail)
now i cant use 4wd unless i work it hard.. and hold the 4wd lever in place.
also all the gears on the tranny are a little off when shifiting (auto)
banged the tranny really hard, and the transfer case got hit bad too..

any clues for me?

can send you pictures if you want..

Sounds like you may have bent the transfer case shift linkage. Climb underneath and give it a once-over. It is adjustable, so find out what is holding it up and see if you can adjust/bend it back to normal operation:

Not sure exactly what is bent, but one option is to take the part off and bend it off the truck. Or get a replacement for the bent part at a junkyard if you think the damaged part is the cause of the problem.

Bud Built also makes an AWESOME!!! crosssmember. He does great work and works with you. He can also bend a drive train lift into the crossmember when you order it. He also has a couple of different skid plates.

here is a couple of pics comparing the stock and budbuilt crossmembers:

And a pic of it installed:

Fine craftsmanship!!!!! It went right in and fit prefectly!
