tested out my lock right
I just bought a lock right locker for my 3rd gen 4runner and took it out to the desert yesterday. I purchased it for 210$ shipped from rocky road outfitters. It came in less than a week. I tend to drive very fast, and I must say the lock right in almost not noticable. The only time you can tell it is there is when doing U-turns, or when are in low traction environment offroad. When turning, sometimes a clicking can be heard, but it is very minor.
I had searched for a used e-locker for quite a while without luck. thanks to yotatech, I went for the lock right, and I must say it is the best upgrade I have done so far. It is very minor on highway etc. I was going 100Mph around turns on the desert freeway and you can not tell that the locker is there.
For anyone considering the lock right vs ARB/e-locker, I have to say forget the expensive selectable lockers. Toss in a lock right and never look back.
And yes, I have used a selectable locker, they are nice, but I don't mind some very quiet clicking now and then for 800$ savings.

yes I did the install. I needed help when pulling the differential off of the axle and putting it back in. Also, you will prabably need help taking the bolts off of the carrier. I will put some pics on this post showing how I took apart my diff and how I marked it so that putting it back together wasn't so bad. It took me about 4-5 hours of work, but I think I could do it in 3 if I had to do it again.

Nice, Brad! Good idea on marking everything as you were taking things off, I've seen too many posts on this and other boards about people that forgot to do this and creating a large headache for themselves.

i agree with everything you said... it is the best mod and worth every penny of savings over selectable.
i have driven on the highway A LOT -- to NY, to NH, to PA, to RI at least a dozen times at speeds as high as 90 (by accident) but i keep it at 70-75 mostly.... and there is no difference between before and after locker install.
you have to realize, you dont notice the locker unless youre making turns.... so there wont be any difference with or without it on the highway because you dont make sharp turns on the highway, only slight ones if that.
it is a great great mod that has doubled the fun of wheeling for me.
