School me on front shackle lifts

I have an 84 shortbed currently w 3.5 front springs sagging somewhat and about 5" out back w 2" springs, 3" blocks. I have some 4" front springs I plan to install and thinking of adding 1" shackles to replace the factory front shackle and level the truck. Do they make 1" lift shackles? should I expect some changes (problems ) w handleing, cornering, steering on the street? will a 1" shackle increase articulation much at all? All replies wellcome......thanks

Sorry, but that was actually pretty funny.

OP,

The old man is right. There is tons of info on here about shackle lifts.

I would definitely recommend ditching the blocks...

For every inch of length you go over the stock bolt hole to bolt hole length you get 1/2 that typically in lift

I understand that. I would like to hear from or find old posts from folks who have used them up front to find out if they are good or bad ON THE STREET. I don't want to hurt my handleing or make the truck dangerous on the road. If they DO cause issues I will just lower the rear to level my truck after I install the new front springs. I'm not trying to be a jerk or offend anyone by not useing the FAQ or search. I tried and came up empty for some reason. if I have offended anyone here before I am unaware of how or why so skool me on that too while your at it. I would like to get along w most of youall and get some good advice on lots of stuff about Toys.

Relax man. Nobody is offended. We simply tell you to search because there is loads of information out there. Not necessarily all in one place, but it's out there.

In the end, you're lifting a truck...it's not going to handle like a BMW. Is it going to be dangerous? No more dangerous than having those massive blocks in the rear.

What is your goal outside of just leveling the truck? There are tons of ways to level.

If it were me, I'd leave it as it is, save up the money to do it right and just go with a new set of springs in the rear to match the lift you get out of the 4" springs up front. No need for a lift shackle.

I was hopeing the shackles might improve articulation while improveing the camber a small amount and keep the springs from hitting the frame at the shackle on hard compression. But not if it causes alot of steering problms, swaying etc. the truck is pretty tight right now. I have had different sized blocks on the rear since 85 w very few problems. I have traction bars and my rear springs are in pretty good shape now NWOR 2". The only trucks i've seen around here w frnt lift shackles had stock springs, or they were strictly offroad rigs that's why i'm askin these ?????s

I've run 1" longer up to 3.5" longer front shackles, they all work as expected:
- http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTri...l#Applications
- http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/...shtml#Shackles

And in fact when I last changed from +2.5" to +3.5" shackles was exactly for the reasons you suggest, a little camber angle change (about 1 degree) and a little better articulation, and I actually saw no lift from that change.
