Rear bumper with spare tire carrier for 3rd gen 4Runner

After searching YT and Google for a while, I think I'll just ask... I'm trying to find companies that make a rear bumper with a swing-out spare tire carrier for a 3rd gen 4Runner. It could be that the only ones are custom, but one way or another I'm looking at my options. It is theoretically possible that I'll have to just make my own later on, but I'd probably rather just buy one for $1000 or so. I would want it to be bolt-on, with a hitch, and obviously the tire has to swing out far enough to allow the rear hatch to open.

I remember hearing about a guy that makes one in Colorado, supposedly doesn't ship but makes excellent products. Anyone know more? I can't find the mention of him here with several different search terms. Anyway, thanks in advance for any help that can be given.

well factor in the labor time for the bumper and then build one yourself and youll realize 1000 isnt that insane.

ummmm, no, you couldn't.

i had right at $500 for materials and consumables in my bumper build - and that's for discount prices. the welder was used, 125 amp, and cost just under $300. the angle grinder/cutter was $100. i had 40-hours of build time in the bumper and carrier after it was all said and done. with $1000, you'd have $100 left over for labor, and you would make a grand total of $2.50 per hour for you time. where do i sign you up?

you can try rockware, but you have to take your runner to them and leave it for a week. they're in colorado. other than that, the only way that i know of would be custom.

good luck.

That's the one! Thanks for the link...

As for spending $1000 for a bumper, hey man if it's done and ready to bolt on even $1200 is worth it IMO since I am lacking in the fab skills necessary anyway. You have to remember I'm talking rear bumper WITH swing out tire carrier, so they ain't cheap.

Thanks for the info Bamachem, yet another place in CO I'll have to investigate.

I had mine custom done by AJ at bentup.com. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f88/rear-bumper-build-100081/

Too bad he's in Sacramento and you're in new mexico. I need to finish it. All I have to do is drill holes for the wheel studs and then mount the spare.

I'm thinking of adding a jerry can holder to the other side, so I might have to build something for that too.

If you want a look at a Rockware bumper, check out Darren's site. I had the twin to his bumper but recently sold it. Matt at Rockware does great work but his cost more than Oleg's (Irbis).
