Question for people that have lock-rites..

the last couple times that Ive gotten the runner's front end on some rocks and was using the skinny pedal, my friends watching me have noticed that if i get one front wheel in a bind the locker will actually disengage and allow the other tire to rotate at most 2 revolutions, the side gear shims looked good when i installed it, just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue...

I did a ride recently with a a Jeep that had a lock rite, and it was completely useless on the trail. As you mention, one tire would bind, and the other would spin, and all of a sudden, at times, it would pull at all. It was terrible. He said that his vacuum wasn't very strong, which could be a problem, but I'm not familiar with them at all, other than I'd never buy after seeing his operate that way.

It doesn't operate on vacuum, but according to the guy that had it in his explorer, his 4wd did, and due to the low vacuum pressures it would hurt the function of the lockrite too, somehow, I guess. I'm not really sure!

I can see how the vacuum would affect the locker. If the locker is in the front on the jeep and the 4wd is operated by vacuum and its not operating properly, it would be coming out of 4wd. The locker would be trying to do its job, but cant if the veh. doesnt stay locked in 4wd.

Superjoe, how old is youre locker? could be time for a rebuild.

yeah but vacum has no direct affect on the locker itself, its still locked, but if your hubs unlock it dosent matter cause the power isnt transmitted to the wheels.
therefore, i was right, you were wrong.

now im gonna sing the im right song.
