Motive 5.29's won't setup! Next?

Bought two sets of Motive Gear 5.29's and set up the front set the pattern wouldn't set great ( bad gear cut )but Zuk said it would probably be ok since it was the front unit - low speed use.
But the back set just won't set period if I get the drive right the coast is WAY off. I tried to run it but the coast noise is too much.
Today I took it by the local gear Guru a 30+ year top race mechanic who tried to set them and confirmed the bad gear diagnosis and said although he had always had good luck with Motive Gears he said he would go with another
brand to avoid getting another gear set from the same batch. Makes sense!

Help! What is the most dependable manufacturer for 8" 4 cyl. 5.29's and a good source for price and delivery.

contact motive, they should replace and pay for shipping. no way would i settle, if you run 4hi at speed it will make a difference.

The more I think about it, I would like to get the front right just on principle. The pattern on the front wandered from heel to toe, every seven teeth repeating itself. I don't think it would be a problem but I would hate to break the toe off a tooth halfway up Engineer Pass or Imogene.
I've had that differential out too many times to go back with Motive I will get my money back on the gears, but i want to go back with another brand. What brand do all the hard core tech guys like?

Been looking at different posts on yotatech and Zuk's site. Looks like Yukon and Precision get high marks as did Motive . What do ya'll think of Precision Gear?

Yukon doesn't MAKE gears - they are just rebranded Richmond, Precision, or USGear.

Precision or USGear are the top shelf, Richmond, Motive, etc are the next rung. NOTE: Genuine Gear are made by Richmond now...

I did notice Longfield will cryo treat thier gears for $45 and Zuk uses them alot but the site was vague on who cuts them. I am looking for consistancy more than anything else so I would like to avoid rebranded gears -leaning to Precision for that reason.

My guess is that Bobby buys Yukon, Precision, etc and then heat treats them in his shop.

I always recommend Precision gear.....anything else is junk IMO...

Watch the video on how they are made on their website....

If you look around...... you can find a set cheaper than that shipped

Really where? Its my site and I have spent countless hours building a price list in a very competitive market. I would be interested to see who has a lower price, I will match any competitors price, but I have not been able to locate anyone selling them at a lower price shipped.

I set up alot of diferentials and have been for a while, over the last 2 years I have seen the quality of alot of the major manufacturers named above slip to the point that I did not wnat to set them up anymore. This is why I started East Coast Gear Supply, seems everyone is dealing a particular brand that I won't name. All I carry is Precision.

I set up gears a lot. Precision and Yukon are great. I too have had similar results with Motive with the pattern walking slightly heal to toe.
