Lift Options

Ok lift options...Ive done plenty of research, looked over all my options (not many for me) and Ive decided between two lifts. [Sorry for the length]

Here is what I have-
2004 4Runner SR5 4WD
No xreas (which is good)

Now the two options

1) Total Chaos Long Travel

Total Chaos Long Travel Kit
$2695
http://www.chaosfab.com/tacomalong_05.html

Toyota Tacoma Front Fender Flares
$355
http://www.glassworksunlimited.com/gu94.shtml#

Long Travel Modified Axles
$760.00
http://www.chaosfab.com/toyaccess_taco.html

Fox Racing Coilover
2.5 x 7/8 Remote Reservoir
~$795 ea
http://www.foxracingshox.com

Long Travel Skid Plates
$85

Custom Front Coils
~$295

Bilstein 7100 series 14" Travel Short Body Reservoir
BIL-AK7114SB
$400
http://www.offroadunlimited.com/Prod...&idproduct=111

- Rear Coils (type)
~$260 (guess)

2) Donahoe

Donahoe Racing Front Coilovers
0”-3”
$950
http://www.donahoeracing.com/prod_de...p?productID=24

ARB OME Shock
$72.78 ea.
http://www.rocky-road.com/4runner.html

Rear Coils (type?)
~$260 (guess)

Total Chaos Upper Control Arms
~$500 (not sure about exact price)

Ok...so sorry for the length, I know that the Total Chaos is much more expensive, but it allows for much more travel (obviously). The rears will be pretty much similar, with just the shock being different for the sake of the Long Travel. For either one that I choose, I will be getting 33' tires 16' wheels.

Here is an example of the Total Chaos in Goodtimes Truck

And the Donahoe in Jared's truck

Any opinions? Durability and everything like that too?
Thanks
-Andrew

Will you benefit from having the LT kit. That is the cost of the kit vs. how much it will be used when compared the regular coilovers and OME.

Andrew:

Since you want an expedition rig, I would recommend getting OME's all the way around. If you really want coilovers then I would recommend either Donahoe or Sway A Way. The rear is another story though so use the OME's. I would recommend that you wait a few weeks as there might be news of some development on another option on the rears. This will definitely open up more options for everyone. Stay tuned.

Same note, the rear setup that I have is pure custom. This requires new mounts on top and bottom and is a mod that is permanent. This means no going back to stock so keep that in mind.

You also didn't factor in the custom modification needed on the fenders as it has to be rebuilt. Only one section of the fender lines up and the rest must be filled or trimmed accordingly. This alone will be $$$. Ask a body shop on what the labor rates for fiberglass is this might change your mind on the LT setup. Just giving you more pointers.

With soo many different lift options, I would seriously think about what you want out of your 4runner and determine your budget. Each setup has it's pros and cons so make a list of that as well. Cost per pros will be key on what you feel is best suited for you.

good luck!
