Question help question

i have a excellent running 22r cab. of corse but my 89 22re is really getting wore out 320 thousand miles i do a lot of hauling on interstate with truck no power in 4th and 5th gears i was wondering can i put the fuel injection on the 22r engine and what could i do cheaply for more power i am also running 245 70 16 in tires

the blocks might be the same depending on year of the 22r however everything else is pretty much different.....

I don't think it can be done with out alot of mods. Change the head but I think only certain years will interchange and i think they are actually off of the car 22r/re's. It is alot of work and probably not worth it to do and you would have to get other parts than what you have.

But give more details on the 89.
Have you check the compression?
Have you done a tune up?
Change the fuel filter?
has it had regular oil changes?
Give us more to work with and we may be able to help fix in another way.

it has been regurly serviced and maintained and have a fuel filter lookin for some cheap mods to boost a little at a time as for the swap could i use the re head or not what do you guys think??

the 89 bottom end is all original it has a new head and timing gears new injectors other than that it has just been regurly maintained it still runs excellent just dont have any pep in 4 th or 5th gear 1 thru 3 lots of power get on a little hill on interstate and truck drops to 50

you could always rebuild it. it's pretty simple and rewarding.

however, if it's an '85-up 22R that you have laying around, just bolt your manifolds onto it and call it good.

Yeah what year is the 22r?

As far as mods there is still alot you can do:
Exhaust and Cam and intake are the best and biggest gains.
But if the bottom end is original it will be going soon. That is what happened to me got the head redone and had the exhaust and cam and intake already and few months down the road the bottom end couldn't hold up anymore and i lost compression and ended up spinning a bearing.
