i have a excellent running 22r cab. of corse but my 89 22re is really getting wore out 320 thousand miles i do a lot of hauling on interstate with truck no power in 4th and 5th gears i was wondering can i put the fuel injection on the 22r engine and what could i do cheaply for more power i am also running 245 70 16 in tires

I don't think it can be done with out alot of mods. Change the head but I think only certain years will interchange and i think they are actually off of the car 22r/re's. It is alot of work and probably not worth it to do and you would have to get other parts than what you have.
But give more details on the 89.
Have you check the compression?
Have you done a tune up?
Change the fuel filter?
has it had regular oil changes?
Give us more to work with and we may be able to help fix in another way.

Yeah what year is the 22r?
As far as mods there is still alot you can do:
Exhaust and Cam and intake are the best and biggest gains.
But if the bottom end is original it will be going soon. That is what happened to me got the head redone and had the exhaust and cam and intake already and few months down the road the bottom end couldn't hold up anymore and i lost compression and ended up spinning a bearing.
