Handling after 2" lift

Hey folks, I've got a question.

I recently had a 2" Cornfed spacer lift installed, with a Fabtech AAL for the rear. I had an alignment done, and all specs (camber, caster, toe) were brought back into normal tolerances.

The truck feels...loose...at highway speeds (<12k miles on it, so it's not steering rack bushings, either). It feels like it drifts a bit, and when I correct the drift, the response isn't as ...'crisp'. Typical after-effects of a coil spacer lift like this? If so, would Kings or SAWs or some other brand of dedicated coilover improve the situation?

OK, off to find some beers while I wait for the more informed folks around here to (hopefully) drop a few clues on me.

Anytime you adjust/ modify suspension your gonna feel a difference in handling. Since you lifted it the center of gravity changed, so it affects the handling. When I did my Revtek lift and sway bar bushings, I found it handled better than stock. When I did the body lift and the 33s thats when my handling got bad. Body roll increased. But nothing thats not hard to handle.

i didn't notice any extreme changes. it can wander a bit, u just gotta pay attention. but for the most part it handles well. body roll is minimal, and i took off my swaybar. the SAWs are stiff enough i guess, especially when u have em cranked as much as i do.

for a while i only had 2" lift and stock tires, and didnt really notice any change in handling.

Yeah I don't have a BL, but I do have >100lbs of WARN Trans4mer and M8000 winch up front, that just got pushed up 2", which I guess would make the front end a bit wobbly, I guess.

Have your alignment checked again, by a different shop or at least different tech. Sometimes they are not right on.

Well I had my alignment rechecked at a different shop. No changes made, as it was all well within factory spec.

Still can't figure out what the deal is, or if I'm just naturally more aware of how the truck handled before vs. after the lift.

Course, this settles it. Obviously I need a set of SAWs to rectify the problem. I'm sure I can convince the wife of this.

That's a good point. 2" up front, plus the weight of the WARN M8000 and the WARN Trans4mer mount. Thanks for the thought.

BTW, cute little girl.

The morning after I installed my 3" lift last year, my swaybar endlinks weren't tight enough, which made for an interesting drive into work Once they were tightened up it handled "better"... so you may want to take a quick look at your endlinks.

Finally replaced the bushings with poly bushings on the swaybar and endlinks last month, and the handling is much improved. I want to say it handles better than stock, but I don't remember how 'stock' feels like anymore

Got a link to the bushings? Something like that would be useful anyway.

Yes the rear end will jiggle when going over things like speed bumps as the axle has now shifted over. The bracket drops the panhard bar back to stock configuration and re-centers the axle. I am waiting for some free time to actually do this.

Steve makes 'em.
