What size tires are you planning to run?

gears

Tire and motor size will determine what gears you need.If you have a 22 like most of us 4.88's work good with 33's,for 35's or larger i'd recomend 5.29's.

And just for referance with my 36's and 5.29's my spedo is perfect

Starting with the stock ratios

Manual tranny
31" = 4.56
33" = 4.88
35" = 5.39
37+ = 5.71

Auto tranny
31" = 4.88
33" = 5.29
35" = 5.71
37+ = fugheddaboudit

Like stated. depends on the tires you are running.
I have 33's on 5.29's and think its a little too low geared for the highway.
with the 36's its perfect imo, but the 33's on the 5.29's make it seem quite a bit quicker around town.

All I'm doing is extrapolating off the stock ratio to keep it where the engineers who spend all day every day figuring this out say it should be. LOL

Each person has their own opinion of "satisfactory" performance. I can tell you I have a manual tranny wth 4.88/33" and auto tranny 5.71/35" and the auto is a DOG by comparison ... I would adjust the "stock" table above down a ratio - so 33" would be 5.71...

When I first went 33's (with 4.56) it was OK - had a bit of a hard time holding 5th on the freeway - not great, not horrible. HUGE difference going to 4.88
