i just bought my 83 swb 4x4 and the seller gave me a set of .488 rear gears that i'm dying to install but have not bought the front yet. is it not a good idea to install just one set? it is not a DD but gets road use, just a weekend truck. not sure how tall the lift, running 33x16x13.5 tsl swampers(till i can get some A/t) for road use. Any help is better than no help. Fairly new to the 4x4 market.

 

You can do just the rear. Just be sure you dont put it in 4 wheel drive

 

Thanks, do you recomend any particular seller for the front gear? not sure what brand the one i have are. or does it really matter?

 

I always hear good reviews of yukon gears. I think more importantly though is having the gears set up correctly
