Ford TTB axle swap on an 85 toyota pickup.
How hard would it be to build a crossmember to mount the brackets for the long arms and beams? Is it possible to set it up on this truck.

Yes im quite serious around here not much crawling mostly long rough roads. Ive ridden in my buddies ranger with a dana 35 ttb and we jumped it doing 75 and it soaks whoops up like nothing. And the flex is crazy does better than my RUF.

I've read about this being done, I think it was a four wheeler mag online article.
Might have been a 3.4 with drivers side drop tc.
You can pull some serious travel with that setup, no cv axle bind.

augh just wrote a post and lost connection so lost it.
I've seen TTB snap axle stubs easily.
Hate to see that to an SFA but to each their own.
Have you tried swapping shocks? You're still running stock front spring hangar still things you can do to front suspension. Buddy 3-linked his bronco front with a ruffstuff kit. Pretty cool set up, fun to watch it flex out and coils to boot.

I have already seen a dana 35 ttb in action going 80 mph with coils and a shock blazeland cant do that all blazeland is, is stock extended ifs. I can pick up a ttb for 150 bucks at my junkyard. Steering will have to be custom same with the frame mounts i will also plate the frame. I can make a ttb get 20 inches of travel with limit straps and coilovers all while retaining 4wd and a toyota driveline usin SORDs pinion flange that connects a 44 to a toyota driveline.

A lot of the Jeepspeed guys go for a TTB setup, and wouldn't have it any other way. I'd recommend getting on NAXJA.org and looking at the Jeepspeed builds.
Those guys build custom TTB setups that are more long travel than even the stock ford stuff, and it's quite impressive. Also, if you have a gear-driven transfer case, you can make a clocking ring, custom vent setup, and linkage to flip the case and run it upside down if you're clever. (I've done it on a jeep cherokee to run a dana 300 case with driver drop axle)
I'm sure some of this engineering could be carried over to the go-fast side of the off-road toyota world.
I'd be willing to bet it's even been done, but personally I'd start with a version of a twin I-beam setup on a high horsepower (v8 swapped maybe, and low gears with a spooled rearend) 2wd truck for going fast in the bumpy stuff.
Search on Pirate4x4.com as well. Those guys have done a little bit of everything, but you might get flamed for screwing up a good rock crawler.
