EGR block off

I was putting a fuel pressure regulator on my 4runner and in the process I broke the egr tube connecting the block to the intake. someone told me you can block that off. Is this true and if so how? The set up it really expensive to buy all the stuff new.

i used a small piece of aluminum to block mine off. i made a template of the flange then used a thin layer of silicone on the aluminum plate that i made. no leaks yet.
