Driving with a Locker ????s

Well I put in my new rear 3rd w/locker just a few days ago and now I have a few questions about how these things are suppose to act on the street. I mean obviously I hear the racheting noise while turning but there are a few other noises or quirks that I have noticed since install. One of them is when lets say you are driving in a parking lot in 1st gear fairly slow 2000 rpms or so and then while turning you push in the clutch....in my truck when I press in the clutch in such a situation I feel like the drivetrain is shaking beneath my feet until the lockrite breaks apart. Is this normal? Almost like I am getting some sort of binding under the truck. Oh and the other question I can think of off the top of my head is that I read quite a bit about how people "chirp" or "squeel" tires around corners when turning and accelerating. I don't seem to chirp or squeel my tires when turning and accelerating, all I notice is the inside tire seems to be spinning slower causing it to make some noise but no chirping. Sorry for the novel, but I just want/need to get these questions answered b/c I am beginning to become paranoid thinking I screwed up something. Just let me know, thanks.

Sounds normal to me. About once a month my lockright unloads so harshly that the whole truck shakes, and i have to check my mirrors to make sure i didnt blow the rear axle up. Sounds to me like it is just unloading mildly when you push the clutch in. Manual transmissions make the quirks of a locker seem more noticeable than an auto, which is what you are experiencing.

Sounds the same as my aussie.

I knwo exactly what you mean about dumping the clutch. Dumping the clutch in a turn is supposed to take torque off of the driveshaft and allow the wheels differentiation to seperate the locker.

I think what is happening to you and I is that, we don't realize how tight the turn is until we are already super slow and half way in the turn. Then we dump the cluthc in hopes of stopping the shaking. But we are going so slow that there isn't enough force to pop the sides off. I can't really think of a way to remedy this. Other than just learning to judge them better and build a little coasting speed before parking turns and dump the clutch well before you're in the turn. This seems to work for me......but every once in a while I forget and have the same experience.

That small noise in turns is the chirping.

Well, this is basically what I wanted to hear . I was just hoping I hadn't bought a messed up 3rd member that had a funky locker in it or something. It seems though that you who responded have the same small issues that I do, its not they bother me I just wanted to make sure it was normal. Thanks.

Sounds right to me. I had a YJ with Detroits and it totally freaked me out at first, but you get used to it.

Any selectable locker I would imagine you wouldn't have these issues since you can basically turn it on and off. No need to run your ARB enabled on the street, unless you want to leave a couple black marks...hehe.

Thats just how my aussie acts. After driving with it for about a month now i hardly notice it. Just wait till you take it offroad, you will be impressed. Lockers are where its at!

Oh I cant wait to get the front locker and gears in so I can put it down into 4 low and see where the truck can go. Even on my 31x10.50s MT/r's I should beable to really go some places, then when I get the 33 inch boggers I will really beable to scare myself!
