Downey Grand Slam Questions

Im considering putting their Grand Slam kit on my 89' 4runner.
Is anyone familiar with it (quaility, possible instillation issues/time, cost to performance benifit)?
Will I be able to run 33's?
Any info will be appreciated.

What Downey grand slam kit? The grand slam 13 or just the grand slam? From Downey's web site it looks like the grand slam 13 gives you a long travel set up where as just the grand slam kit does not. With either set up you should be able to run 33's no problem. As far as cost to benefit I am not sure, that would be up to you...some people would say that for that amount of money you could do a sas. I personally like the long travel set up...in a perfect world I would have one. I like Downeys stuff but a lot of people don't...If you want more information on their stuff call them and they should be able to answer all your questions. Hope that helps, sorry if I rambled a bit. lol.

I was considering the basic GS kit but after reading and talking to some buddies I'll prob go with the ecomony or pro desert kit to get my by for now and get her butt form saggin. Then use the saved money for other upgrades or start saving up towards a Long Travel kit. Since I've yet to wheel anyting tougher than Odessa Canyon out in Calico I havent really had the need for a SAS but its an idea I've been considering.

MMMHHH Dennys Grand Slam= AWESOME!!!

Well picked up the pro-desert kit yesterday (well I picked up the springs). The guys at Downey were cool and helpful. Unfortunatly the torsions bars and shocks were outta stock so I'm waitin for the mail man. But hopefull Ill have it on and ready by the weekend. Slap on some 33's and maybe a new set of wheels and she'll be styling!!!

downey grand slam kit

if you are considering spending that kind of money on the downey grand slam kit, id rather go with a solid axle setup w 35s.

Built SFA = Slow and vertical
Built IFS = Fast and Horizontal

Pretty much sums it up.

Downey's expensive, but there's not a lot of other options for 1st and 2nd gen long travel IFS...
