According to some a nissan part# 38323-C6010 will thred directly into the diff housing and alow for a longer hose to be run directly from it. I will make available to any member of this forum a pair for $6.34 This includes tax in Houston, TX. Let me know if this is something folks are interested in.

I actually heard about it on www.4x4wire.com/toyota and since I work for a dealer I thought I would order the partsa and try it out. The fittings thred directly into the housing. Then simply attatch the required length hose tie it off and viola!! Extended breathers. . . check out this write-up http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/minutemods/breather/

Ahh.. okay, so you do know that they work! That was my point, I didn't want to order them without knowing for sure that they fit.

Cool!

Do you take PayPal?

Thank you!

Mark,

I'll look around, I think I've got the parts for extending your rear breather- I bought two sets thinking I was going to do the front as well, but it turns out the front is already extended up a bit. I

I got the Toyota breather extension that threads into the pumpkin. Part #'s are in the tech writeups.
I don't think Nissan parts are necessary as the price is the same or less.

Why is everyone looking to jerry-rig a straight-forward and inexpensive mod such as this? I got the parts for this from my dealer and Home Depot and I spent ~$15 on everything. Quit trying to shave a penny here and there and just do the mod using parts made by Toyota for yoru Toyota so you know its done correctly.

Just my $0.02, putting on my asbestos suit now.

The nissan part is a tube with a threaded end on it. There's no jerry rigging, it's pretty much the same thing as the toyota part. It's not rocket science.

I've used the nissan part for my rear diff, but have since replaced it by just popped the cap off the original toyota breather, shoving a tube over it and clamping it on. Cost me nothing.

The front diff is pretty close to the oil pan which means the nissan part needs to be cut off a little. It's about 1.5 inches long and you probably need to cut it in half or so.

It doesn't matter which method you use, they all do the same thing.

No need for the flame suit, you're just misinterpreting my motivation.

If I can shoot someone $7 and they can send me the parts I need and are known to work, then it saves me the wandering around HD/Lowe's looking for the fittings, then wondering if this is all I need and if I picked up the right piece, and then finding out that someone dumped a single wrong piece into a bin of 50 and I happened to pick it (happens to me all the time), but not finding that out until I'm up under the truck trying to fit the piece that I "know" is right for an hour before I finally give in to "crap, it happened to me again!" and get back in the truck and head back to HD/Lowe's with the greased up receipt to get the right part only to get home and find out that I really don't have time to get back up under the truck right then becuase of other stuff that I have to do so the parts will sit here on my desk until I can find an hour to get the truck to a warm windbreak and try again.

That's not really an exaggeration btw... A lot of my projects go JUST like that.

Mark,

I can't find my spare fitting I used to screw into the diff, but I did find the Toyota plug breather- its the same breather on your diff, but with a barbed end. So, I think you can just pop off the metal cap on your current breather, or use an NPT fitting to screw into the diff, run your hose up to the gas tank filler port, and use my fitting on the other end. I'll give it to you free of charge, I won't be needing it.

Its part of a national crime syndicate aimed at overthrowing the government. In addition to going to Lowes and Home Depot, we also like to go to Blockbusters and Hollywood Video and put the wrong movie behind the front box- our favorite swap is replacing "Saving Private Ryan" with Steel Magnolias, gets them every time!

Cool... If you think about it, toss it in your glove compartment and I'll get it from you on the next run.

Thanks man!

It's easir than all this!!

I've got a '97 T-100 and it has the same diff breather as all of the 4runners and tacomas I've seen. all I did to extend it was to unscrew the original, pop off the cap, and slap a piece of 3/8 i.d. tubing and a hose clamp on it and run it between the bed and the cab and into my tool box. Took me about 10 min. and cost me about a $1.50.:pat:

I think mine cost me about $4.00. As someone previously mentioned. I just popped the cap off and put the tube over them held on with a small hose clamp. They work great.
