D/T lift?
Hey so ive been doing a lot of research on the D/T lift (a 2 inch so that it will all be back into the same place after the 2 inch BL i plan) for a 2nd gen 4runner and found that some people get drive shaft vibes when they do it to there V6.
Just wondering should i look for a 4runner with different engine than a V6 if i would like to give my runner a flat belly to add more protection for the underside?
Im planning to put a 2 inch BL on my rig before i put the D/T lift on it, obviously.
Any info at all would be great.
Any info would be awsome from people who have actually done them.
Thanx
Jordon

As long as you raise the engine and transmission an equal amount (i.e raise them level) then the driveshaft angles/alignment is preserved:

thanx 4crawler just wondering if you would recomend a 2 or 3 inch (obviously gonna have to go with the 3 inch BL then) to tuck everything up under the frame rails so i can make it nice and smooth under there or would just a 2 inch work?
also love the website it is so helpful.

I did 2" on my '85 (w/ a 3" body lift):

The extra 1" clearance is nice, makes accessing the engine and tranny easier and gives my rear driveshaft a little more clearance under the frame. Still made a huge improvement in clearance underneath (about 5.5"):

That's why i was asking if Ian already had a BL. If he does, then it's a fairly straightforward affair. This is on my future mod list, too.

A BL, and DTL is the BEST possible way to gain clearance. You get bigger tires without adversely affecting the suspension, and you get rock clearance under the belly. Cheap, effective, and works. Can't do better than that.

Anyone have any info on doing a D/T lift without a body lift?
Im running 37s right now and have plenty of room for them so I dont want a BL. I'd imagine there would be some cutting to the floor but would there be enough hood clearance?

Check out Filsrunner's build up. Not only is his build SICK, but he did exactly what you are talking about.

Yes, took the picture while I was installing my dual battery setup and was still making up cables and connections. It was tightened before I finished up that installation. And that was an additional cable I added and just used that bolt as a common connection point for all my new ground cables.

Depends on how much you do. But you will almost certainly have to cut the hood.

Thats a lot of work. I might just consider lowering the suspension and adding a BL. I dont really want to go bigger than 37s and i cant have my truck out of commision for the time it would take to hack up the floor.
