cv angles w/diff drop

does anyone know why my cv angles are still kind of extreme(will post pics later) even after the RB 1" diff drop? Filthyrich has the same suspension set up as i do except that he has the SS taperd diff drop. Does that matter? I just want to save my cvs. Thanks for your input and pics are soon to come

Tapered spacers won't change the CV angles assuming they are the same height. The drop kit will reduce the angles, that is what is important. There will still be an angle to the CVs, but the idea is to reduce it below the threshold where the CV joints are being over extended.

ok thanks! I was just curious because another rig, that has the same setup as mine has a less of an extreme angle. Thanks for your help!

Different rigs will have different ride heights, even with the same springs. Perhaps the otehr springs have been on longer and settled, or are a slightly lower spring rate than yours or the other rig may have a bit more weight up front than you.

The important thing is that the angles have been reduced. Have not seen data for the IFS CVs, but on the very similar solid axle Birfield (CV) joints, I've seen some data that shows angle vs. breaking strength (don't have the actual numbers any more). Up to a certain angle, the CV was stronger than the axle shaft, but just to the end of it's angle range, the strength fell off dramatically. So if you can keep the joint in the range where it is as strong as the axle shaft, then it should be fine.

I do have the ARB Sahara and they have been on for at least 12k miles. Perhaps with the TJM the springs will settle some more. Plus, wheeling it will help "break in" your springs.
FWIW here is shot of my CV angle
