idle drop when throttle is touched

Aloha Friday!

After cold starting ( no problem with Manual choke, one crank and running) my idle will drop to about 450 rpm from 850 if I just tap the throttle. It only happens during warm up and stops when hot. Also the exhaust smells rich while this happens. It takes about 8 seconds to rise back to 850 rpm. Anybody have any knowledge on this? Just curious as it runs solid once hot.

On the stock electric choke carburetors, the choke heater controls the fast idle. If it was converted to a manual choke, the fast idle linkage might have been disconnected.

I am not familiar with the Weber carb, just stock. If you think it is running rich, maybe you can adjust the mixture? It sounds like it could be getting too much or too little fuel, or the fast idle circuit is not working correctly. Try pulling off the choke slowly as it warms up. It might need to be at half choke while it warms up. The stock electric choke slowly pulls off the choke and fast idle, so I would think a manual choke would need to be operated the same way. There are people on here with more knowledge about a Weber than me.
