I need a computer for a '90 4Runner with a 3.0, an electronically controlled auto, and ADD (well, it had ADD). I have a parts '90 pickup with a 3.0 and a stick, with locking hubs, but the comp wasn't even close to the same. Is it the tranny and transfer that determine which comp is used, or is it a P/U VS 4runner thing? Or is it some weird combination of body style/motor/tranny/front end design that determines which computer a vehicle gets?

Basically, I would really like to know what other Toyota's I can get a computer out of. Or, if anyone has a comp just kicking around that will work for this application, that would be cool too.

Does the ECU also work the tranny or does it have a seperate computer? If it does have a seperate computer, where is it? I would like to raise its position for deep water crossings. If the comp out of a stick shift vehicle will plug into my auto Runner, can I just shift the tranny like a stick, or will it not work at all?

Sorry for making this so long, it's just that I am having a really hard time finding out what works and what won't, so thanks for your patience and help.
