look in the local buy-n-sell or nickel ads...they usually have people selling them.

you can try car-part.com, might find you a better deal. 400 is insane for a toyota axle

You could ask the solid axle fairy...

Check the for sale section on PBB, check it every day. There is one every couple of days, usually complete for less than 2 bills.

If you are in Chico, they should be growing like weeds around there. Lots of Toy's in California, lots of wheelers.

Not sure about all of Cali's geography, but I would call some 4wd shops around there and see what they know. Lots of places are networked through the grapevine.

I would not pay more than $250 US for a complete, hub to hub axle with the third and that thing would have to be in pretty awesome condition. The $400 part sounds like he is getting you without lube!

Could buy a whole truck for a grand and part it, should be easy.

Find your local Pick-n-pull yard. The one I visited twice this past week had a sale on axles: $26.99! Normally they charge $52.99. A good deal anyway.
Unfortunately, only one Toy and it was IFS.

if you get desperate, marlin will sell you a '79-83 axle for 250, 84-85 for 300

still a bit pricey though

I'd buy a pre 84 axle and gusset it myself. You will save alot of $$$. 84 & 85 axles tend to cost more since they come gusseted fromthe factory. PBBis a good place to look. Also check out www.wildyoats.com/vbulletin

hey runner

Hey You didn't happen to be in Savannah Ga. About a month ago. My brother was telling me about a red 4 runner he saw at a restaurant down there that was really cool and had a 'JEEP SEARCH AND RESCUE" sticker on the bed. Probably just a coincidence though. AZ's "along" way from GA.

Yeah I'd sell you one for cheap but you live in California. There's ton's of them here in the South I guess "YA'LL" have just bought em up out there or something. It sucks you live like all the way on the other side of the country. If anyone in the Southeast needs some axles E-mail me at lcopeland22@netzero.com. I have at "least" one front 8'' yota axle. I have two 8"rears also. I also have 2 waggy Front D-44's -- but can get more, a Ford 9" rear, and a fullfloat Dana 60 rear I could get my hand's on for all of your Christmas money. Let me know I'm in Atlanta.

I have an '83 toyota pickup, and I'm willing to sale you the front end. I live in northern ca about 300 miles north of SF near Eureka, Drive up here with some buds in atruck, take it off yourself, and I'll cut you a deal. Not quite as strong as the '84 or '85 ,but you can weld ribs on, nad it works just fine.

400 bucks isn't outrageous, but still...if your anywhere near either of these two, they'll sell you a complete(used) 85 axle, hub to hub, which means locking hubs brake rotors, birfield joints, axle shaftes, axle, and 3rd member with open carrier for 300 bucks(shipping extra if your not close enough to drive)

I've used TAP for years, and never had a problem. If you have, well that sux, but I know plenty of guys out there who get parts from them all the time, and never had any problems. Besides, how many other junk/recycling yars can you think of that deal only in toyota/lexus parts??

also, cetain parts probably shouldn't be bought used. A steering box...ring and pinion gears????? A steering box should be a rebuilt unit, otherwise you don't know what your getting. And why would you use used gears in a truck that gets beat on?
