1986 Pickup - 22R No Spark

I just picked up a 1986 4x4 pickup with the 22r. It was my BIL's truck for 17 years, and he kept it in great shape. It idled perfectly once it settled in. The problem I'm having is last week I started it and didn't wait for it to settle in before getting out to go do something. I assumed it was idling because it's so quite and smooth, but when I came back to check on it, it was dead. It was dead for probably around 5 minutes or more. When I tried to start it, I got no spark. On old GM's, the coil can burn up if the ignition switch is on and the engine isn't running. I assumed the same and swapped the coil. I still get no spark.

I am new to the 22R so I don't know the in's an out's yet. I hope this group can help guide me. I searched for similar threads already and didn't find help for this issue.

just confirming, is it a 22r(aka carbed), or a 22re(fuel injected).

in both cases, i think that there is an igniter module attached to the coil, did that get swapped out as well?
