can you recommend a locker?

Sleep? It is another manic Thursday.
Welding the diff of something that is not exclusively trail driven is retarded IMHO. With only my rear ARB locked and in 2wd, that pig pushes bad when I try to turn in high traction situations, as in not mud. It has been proven to fail when done incorrectly. Not to mention I think that the number of people who frequent this board who currently own a welder and those who know how to weld can be counted on one hand.
To me, a Detroit means the whole carrier locker, the king of auto lockers. An EZ locker or Lock Wrong is a lunchbox locker, I would not wish them on someone who drives it daily or who sees snow or ice on road on a semi regular basis.
The retarded comment had to do with suggesting whose advice should be taken. There is alot of crap that gets slung on the internet about people's brother's cousin's sister's aunt's cat's brother's uncle's dog's saw on a truck in a magazine. I have a double ARB locked truck. It is that way for a lot of reasons and research that I have done and experience I have had. I will not recomend a lunchbox locker in good faith. For simiar bucks, you can have an e-locker which is light years ahead in strength and drivability.

thanx for all the advice, im thinking about going with either air lockers or some locker that is selectable. yeah i've shopped around and i found that these are not cheap. one day this century i will have a good wheelin truck with all kinds of stuff in it. its gonna happen kinda slowly cause of my money flow. eventually when i get all the mechanical stuff fixed on my 86 i'll start to putting the lift and stuff in it. i have so many things to do to it now. i currently have to put a new tranny in it, making it a standard, and doing a straight axle conversion in it. if anyone has any other advice on what i need to do to make this my trail truck i would appreciate it, as you know this is my first trail truck

Had lock-rite ... hated it's road manners.
Like Detriot soft locker ... much better road manners
- no clicking
- no corner bronco riding
- not so good on road ice or snow (opens much better)
If I had to do it over again .... ARB =rear=
