BJ spacer question, yes Ive searched

I just want a few straight answers, yes or no? I have a little lift on it right now and 32s fit nice but I want to go to 33s, should I get BJ spacers or just turn the T-bars up? Just want a simple yes or no on these, Ive read about them so know the ups and downs just want some opinions.

Not enough info. What lift up front do you have if your not running spacers and have not cranked the T-bars?

Regardless, I'd just cut and pound to clear.

The T-Bars are turned up a little, they arent 'cranked' as everyone says, its maybe .5'' and I have Eibach springs in the back so its got maybe 1'' of lift.

4runner or truck? They have different sized wheel wells so it makes a difference. I say yes to bj spacers and uncrank that .5" crank. You really shouldn't go more than 1.5".

Alright cool, its a 4Runner, on my Yakima post those are 32s on it, they still have a lot of room, I dont have a doubt I can fit 33s right now but Im worried theyll rub a lot.

Where you thinking of 10.5" or 12.5" wide tires? Either way, you will have to trim your plastice valance. What is the backspacing on you rims? If they are 3.75" you may be fine with 12.5" wide tires without trimming or pounding. If you need to run snow chains, you may need to just stick to 32's till you get a mild body lift. I fit 33x12.5's but there is no way I would feel comfortable running chains. That is how close it is. In the rear, the 33's stuff in there just barely. If I had my rear flaps on the tires would catch on the bolts holding the flaps to the bumper.

Definetely do the BJ spacers. They keep your suspension settings, unlike cranking your t-bars up.

I would also ask if you intend to do a SAS soon or ever. If the answer is yes then I would say no to the BJ spacers. Here is why:

I put them on my truck. They work well. They are a good product and work as advertised but... in my case once I got to thinking about tearing the front end apart I got to thinking about all the other things I OUGHT to do while in there. So I also got new BJ's upper and lower, new TRE's inner and outer. New control arm bushings upper and lower, idler arm rebuild kit, idler arm brace, IFS truss, and of course the requisite new shocks for the BJ setup. Can't get new shocks up front without new for the rear can you? (yes, but you know what I mean) In the end I probably dropped 500-600 bucks on the project and I still want SAS anyway. That dough would have gone a ways toward a swap for sure. So, if you have no intention of an SAS, do it. If you are certain all your other components are in good shape and it is just the spacers then it's your call. If you want an SAS, don't nibble around the edges of the IFS, just do the SAS. For now get a body lift for the 33's or lock the rear or get armor or something that you'll still want/need anyway if you do want to swap down the road.

Im not gunna do a body lift, ugly and dont really do much IMO. I would love to do a SAS, but who wouldnt? But its not realistic for me, its my daily driver, and Im sure a lot of people have DDs with the SAS but I have better things to use my money on currently so If I ever do itll be a ways down the road and Ive been looking at a 85 SR5 truck with a solid axle so I wouldnt need 2 heh. Most of the parts look to be in good shape, All I hope to have to buy are 4 new shocks, the BJ Spacers and coild spring spacers. I dont plan on running chains, I just get stuck and bitch rather then adapt lol.

Been my plan all along to lift my T100 only as much as needed... Since it is higher then I have an advantage over the 4Runners and trucks/tacos.

For reference here is my plan: 2" body lift-anything more imho is a no no. I may have 4Crawler duplicate the kit im gonna buy and make it 1" we shall see. Then I am gonna raise the truck 1.5" suspension lift by adding in a new leafpack and BJ spacers-possibly barely moving my torsion bars and of course new shocks..

You dont need to SAS unless you really, really wanna go places-bu this guy with a tweaked stock suspension seems to follow the big boys and he doenst have much lift at all! http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/hottoy/west/

I would do the spacers and raise the rear to compensate and do a 1" body lift. 1" isnt alot and will go almost unoticed.

On 3rd gen (96 and up) trucks and runners you but a big hole inthe airbox and put a boat deckplate in there incase you need to seal it. It increaes your hp/tq about 10-really. Downside si your mpg goes down as it makes a loud happy sound you cant resist when you put your foot to the floor

Anything older than 96ish cant do it easily.

I have two Toyota's one that I will be getting the bj spacers in (the 88 runner) and a 91 ext cab that has the T-bars cranked to the max (previous owner did that) but will get a SAS soon so I suffer with the cranked up T-bars. The pickup rides like a log truck with no real cushion over bumps and stuff, while the runner rides like a caddy comparatively. From what I have read the spacers add to ride height but doesnt really make the ride suffer too much. I am building up the runner to be my DD and my weekend warrior, while my 91 is being the more built that I will take on the serious trails.
So in other words if your going to keep it as a DD and still want to go out and play then go for the spacers, I dont think you will ever regret it.

Bejiita - what year 4Runner? Sounds like a second gen since you said you have the Eibach springs in the back (same as me).

If it's a second gen, you can fit 33x10.50 on the stock rims with NO lift. I NEVER rub with my setup.

x2 on spend the money on armor or lockers instead.

Its a 95, its already kind of lifted, the Eibachs and T-Bars up a little for aprox an inch, My 32x11.50s work great they can be fully flexed with no rubbing but I need a taller tire cause I have a huge ammount of wheel-well space that just looks ugly. I just read an article on the pros/cons of a 33x10.50 as to 33x12.50 and it was really interesting but Im aiming for that 'badass' look so I want big bad chunky tires.
