Ball Joint Spacer Users Beware...

After my last trip to Superstition Mountain I had a pretty bad leak coming from above the steering stabilizer. At first I thought it was the power steering pump. The pump did happen to be leaking, oh and I busted the two inner cv boots but either of those weren't the main problem.
I guess after hitting a few dunes and whoop-te-doos the steering stabalizer came up and hit one of the hard lines going to the back of the tranny pinching it to its breaking point. After I get this repaired Ill be definately shimming the bumpstops so hopefully this won't happen again. Watch out for that extra travel guys!!

Yeah I'm confused here. What exactly did it hit? I can't recall any hard lines being above the steering stabilizer. Is your truck an auto?

Josh--you can't blame the BJ spacers on either issue. I told you the boots on those reman axles are junk. I am not sure about the steering stabilizer hitting the line, I will need to look at mine when I get it back from the fab shop. Maybe the line is run incorrectly.

Im pretty sure that it has been stated that YOU MUST HAVE all you bump stops in place, when running the BJ Spacers

Yeah with the old t-bar crank you could get away with no bump stops because there was so little flex. The first thing I did after the BJ spacers was make some new lower bumpstops. Never heard of anyone breaking a tranny cooler line though, I'll check my clearance now. Were you using the stock stablizer?

I have the stock bumpstops, stabilizer & auto transmission. Ill take some pics.

Not too worried about the CV boots. Ill be ordering some new axles from Carquest and doing the "bolt" mod.

Wait, the steering stabilizer is connected to the center link and to the frame on the passenger side. The center link is connected at both ends. On the passenger side end it is connected to the idler arm, driver side end is connected to the pitman arm/steering box. The center link and steering stabilizer does not move up/down, only side to side. The TRE's are what connect the center link to the knuckle. So how would this be caused at all by the BJ spacers?
