Another 1997 4 Runner Rear Question

did they make an e locker or other locker in a 4 runner with 4:10's???

there is a salvage yard near me, says they have a 410 geared rear out of a 1998 with a locker...they were going to check to see if it was an electronic locker or what....

did the e locker come with 410s in the 4 runner? did they offer another type of locker possibly?

thanks, i hate to be a pain but need help and quick

If it says RR DIFF LOCK by the steering wheel then it is the e-locker. I like the gear chart Steve has on his website:

http://fastq.com/~sschaefer/Toyota_axle_codes.html

and I found this on J.A.'s 4Runner History site:

"4.300 w/ optional P265/70R 16 tire package

and all models with locking rear differential "

Good luck!

yeah I havent been there yet to check the vehicle and see if it is an e locker

i wonder if it has 410's with the fabled LSD that supposedly came in some trucks

the guy at the salvage yard said that it has 410's....but of what i hear 410's never came with an e locker.....it would have 430s

also does anyone sell a complete bearing/rebuild kit for these rear ends?

thanks

I have a '97 5 speed V6 4x4, and it has the factory e-locker, and 4.10 gears.

I also had the optional 265/70 16 tires.

I think that the later so-called highlander 4Runners had 4.30 gears with the auto tranny. At least that was the case with the Highlander sport 4Runners I saw on the lots at the time.

im personally looking for my gearing. my code number on that webpage points to two different gearing rations. 4.10's and 4.30's with 265/70/r16. Now, mine says its requires those tires, so i have 4.30s?

Hmm, my model is :

VZN185L-GKPGKA

which on that chart from the link is either:

VZN185L-GKPGKA 3.909
VZN185L-GKPGKA 4.100 With P265/70R16
VZN185L-GKPGKA 4.300 Option

So I still don't know which I have.
Some other numbers on the door jam were:
A04A/A340F
