First of all you guys rock, love this site don't always log on but follow a lot of the posts.

Here's my question just traded for a 87 22re 5speed 4x4 truck , The previous owner installed a 3 inch body lift oin the truck, Here's the problem if in lo lock and try to go in reverse the tranny shifter knocks the transfer case shifter out of lo, Is there a way to correct this problem? Has anyone had this problem before?

extremely common with a BL.
and you are in 4 low, not lo lock.
Easiest thing to do IMO is to remove the shift boot, pop the Clip holding your TC lever in place. Pull the TC lever out, heat and bend it slightly one direction or the other to get it out of the way of your trans shifter. DO NOT attempt to bend it while the TC lever in still in, you are liable to screw up a shift fork or something.


could also be that the shifter is hitting the opening on the transmission tunnel

I am on a very tight budget and would like to go with a two stick setup for the transfer case does any one know of a write up on building one of these for my truck (homebuilt).

how difficult is the pin in the case to remove?

 

Intrinsically not that hard, but depends on how cooperative your case is:

I pulled mine some years ago with the case out of the truck. I hard the biggest problem with suction holding the pin in place, finally got a little telescoping pencil magnet, ground it down to fit in the hole and gradually worked the pin out. I don't have twin sticks yet, but been running unpinned for years now with no problem. Hope to finish up my triple stick shifter (dual cases) one of these months.
