Spooling Winch rope on the drum.
When using synthetic rope on a winch I have read that you should weave the rope back and forth. This keeps the rope from "nesting" into the other layers.
My question is, Do you weave the whole rope or just the last wrap?

Never heard that, and never read it in any directions. BUT its sounds interesting since my rope does dig its way into lower layers pretty hard and I spooled mine like I spooled cable. It pops right out though by hand.

Old thread but I feel that I should throw some information into here. When we spool rope onto them drums at work or on our own winches we spool it just as you would spool a wire cable. The trick for getting a synthetic rope to not cut through the layers underneath is a tight spool. If you put some resistance on the line as you are spooling it then it will reduce the chance of the layers becoming tangled.
