Keep in mind you're rocking the 3.4. Lil different than the 22re or 3vze...

When I first got my truck it had 31's with the stock 4.10's and the 3.0. The truck ran great with that gear/tire combo and 5th would only be an issue with very steep hills, but could maintain 70 up those in 4th gear. Now that I'm running 35's with the stock gearing steep hills are a PITA, but I refuse to invest in new gears for the IFS when I'm planning on a SAS in the very near future. Flat or semi flat ground I can maintain 75-80 on the hwy in 5th gear with no problem with the 35's. Off the line the truck is slow but its a 4x4 not a race car so I deal with it heh.

and I'm facing the same issue: I'm running 31's up from the stock 235/75/15's, and still on the stock 4.30's(but now with a manual tranny). I'd like to up to 33x10.5's within the next year or so.

I'm planning to stick with IFS(total chaos this summer!!!).

I can get a complete 4.56 gear set: 4.56 V6 3rd and 4.56 IFS front diff (both open) for $500.
or
I can get a 4.88 IFS diff for $300.

I could get the 4.88 V6 3rd aswell, but I'm not sure if I can put a locker in it because of the thinner ring gear.

This is going in my 22RTE, so I do have a bit more power to play with. Thoughts?

Definitely 4.88's for 33's with manual tranny

Regular lockers will fit the 4.88 diff, but you will never be able to regear it. I would get the 4.88 chunk and regear your rear third.
