3rd member install, need some help and advice

Yo everybody, just thought id post this up, I am at the final stage of my 4wd conversion and I need some help, dont have any space to install this and was wondering if anyone in the CO area could help me swap this out. I just got some ridiculous quotes from two shops here in foco for 290 to 313 and then pederson toyota insultes me by saying 600 for the swap. no joke on that either.

going from a 4.10 locked rear end to a 4.56 arb rear end.

anyways just thought id ask.

Is the 4.10 e-locked or lunch box? If lunch box, this install should be real easy. Pull the axles and swap the third.

You need: jack stands, 10mm wrench for the brake line, a 14mm for the 4 axle and drive shaft bolts, and a 12mm for the 3rd bolts. Run the air line, bleed the brakes, fill the diff and drive away. You may want to change the axle seals while you are at it.

blake do you have a completely seperate rear 3rd? If so then install is a breeze. I gotten so good at mine, i can have one out and another in in about 1.5 hours thats due to unfortunate events i had ealier in the year.

Is the air line already run outside the diff? J/w. O and picking up the diff and putting it into the housing absolutely sucks

bleeding brakes is not a one person job unless you have a vacuum bleader. (im going to assume you dont) so make sure you have a friend handy

Come on down. We'll be installing a CB with another guy on Friday night, 'wheeling on Saturday (see the trip planning section), but could do it on Sunday.

We have all the tools, and I've had mine in and out a few times - should only take a couple hours.

Do the seals while you are in there.

If you cannot bust these fasteners loose with a 3/8's ratchet, turn in your man card. Run CO2 for an air gun if you are in a parking lot and worried.

Brakes are easy.

Blake, if you have any concerns with bleeding the brakes let me know and I'll send you the pdfs from the Factory Service Manual.

A flare nut wrench in the right size will be nice too.

Honestly I sat here for a bit trying to figure out why he would need to bleed the brakes. Then I remembered, drum brakes, riiiiight, lol. I was thinking disc in my head.

Swapping thirds is no big deal. I wouldn't sweat it too much. I think I could swap a third in well under an hour. With help from one of these doods and the right tools it'll be a breeze. Good luck...
