33's or 32's?? sorry I have to ask

any opinions on the pros, cons. I know this has been talked about a butt load, but I want some opinions, experiences.

I have a 3.0 5spd Runner, Im putting on a 4 in. super lift and I really want to put some 33x12.50 MT's on. I think 32x11.50's will be nice but I cant help but think they will be a litttle too small. I dont want to look like I just crammed some tires under my lift either. I want to be able to flex my stuff as much as I can. I do some decently hard wheeling quite alot too.

The main thing Im worried about is the loss of power, speed, response, etc. with out re gearing, I dont know if I want to do that or not, I know i should thou. how much diff. is there really, in your experiences. Thanks.

You could go with 33x10.5 BFG's like many of us have here.

I went with 33x12.5x15. Great tires on an 8" rim. If I were to put 33s on stocks I'd go with the 10.5, but 12.5 on 8-inchers.

x2

My 94 3.0 w/ AT would not hold 65 mph w/ a tailwind and I had 4.88's and 32" BFG MT's.
It made road-trips pretty unbearable!

**edit
BTW, 32's were just right w/ Downey T-bars and springs.
With a 4" lift, I would definately go 33" or larger.

Yea, I got some new 8 inch wheels so I think 12.50's will be ok. My runner is still my secondary vehical, mainly for wheeling and hunting but I still need to have it barable on trips to trails and such.

My buddys got a 2000 taco 2.7 At with 32x11.50's MT's with stock gears and his is useless going up hill. I dont think he could hit 75-80 depending on the situation.

I run 33x12.5 with 4.56's (want 4.88's) and it gets around great, I can hold 75/80 in traffic just fine. it does lack some balls off road, so I mainly stay in 4 low and use 2nd or 3rd gear. you have to remember that there are no hills or grades here either.

I would say go for the 33's if you plan to regear eventually, if not, stay with the 32's.

yea Im going to get the 33's. I may regear later, I should anyway. Im getting a good deal on some savero Mt's for $520 out the door. I think they will be good enough, I was planning on getting some Kumhos but all said and done Ill pay like 100+ bucks more with the Kumhos.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the replys.

I also have a 3.0 5spd 4Runner w/33x12.50 BFG MT's and original 4.56s. Used to have 32x11.50 BFG MTs. I love the 33s. You will only be able to use 5th on the flat or downhill but its not like you can't get onto the freeway or anything. I have 4.88 in the garage that will go in eventually.

No kidding! I've got a 3.0 w/AT, 4.10s and 33x12.50s and on a flat highway it's a struggle to keep 70. Going up any sort of hill, I often find myself slowing way down or it will shift to 2nd. Totally unbearable. 4.88s here I come

Quick side question. What's the axle code for factory 4.88s in 89-95 trucks and 90-95 4runners? There's a few in the local yards I might go check out but I need to know what code to look for. Thanks!

you don't want factory 4.88s if you plan on getting a locker or LSD in the future, at least in the rear you don't. The factory rear has a diff carrier and I thikn the housing might even be different too.

I used to have a 93 4Runner auto with the V6 and factory 4.88's, 4" superlift and 33x12.50 Trxus M/T's. As stated before, useless uphills. My gas milage also dropped to 13-15. It wasn't to bad getting around town, just really slow off of the line. You will also have to remember that your speedo and milage is going to be off. Mine was off about 10%.

I would do the 33x12.50, they look real nice under a 4" lift. I'll post a couple pics tonight so you can get an idea.

if for no other reason get the 33s because some trails/trailmasters will not allow you on them w/o 33s
