2nd gen OME's

OK I have done a long search and found lots of info for the OME for 3rd gen, but this is my question:

Has anybody with a 2nd gen put on the OME springs in the back and what did they use regular of HD? How much lift did you get?

Situation is I have brutal sag in the back. I just got new sensatracs and my wife would kill me if I bought new ones. So I dodn't want too much lift (over stock) probably only about an inch. Most people seem to be getting 2-3" (not sure if that is over stock or previous sag). I currently have the 31" tires and will probably go with the 32". I am tires of tapping my back end in the bush. The front is stock. I could maybe get the ball joint spacers but I still have the ADD and don't want to damage my CV's.

do some searching on this as there are many that have put on OMEs with a second gen. i put the medium coils on my old 92 in the back with the OME shocks and gained about inch and a half. fender to wheel was 14.75 in the back at the end of the day.

how did they ride compared to stock - was it OK or a lot harsher? What about when you have a load on or towing?

they may have ran a little stiffer in the front but thats because i had my torsions cranked as i didnt have any bj spacers. other than that they blew the stock setup away. handling was amazing on the paved road, washboard road and off the road. under load they were good, but I never towed anything with it. if you load your rig with alot of weight the HD coils may be a better choice. this is also with ome shocks though.

i run ome springs in the back of mine and i love the set up. i have about 4 inches of lift but i also used a 2 in spacer, so id assume its about a 2 in lift with just springs. if youre strictly on the road tho, i would suggest getting medium springs. i run HD and they are stiff, definitely not good for a DD on the street alone.

springs

not to hijack, this about springs though.

I highly recommend the Performace products progressive springs. not too stiff for on-road/unloaded, don't sag when the truck is loaded. gives you about 1" lift in the rear (over stock) when they settle. I had 32"x11.5R15 BFG at's on it and had no problem, needed a little fender triming on the front wheel wells.

The rear OME900 med. will give you about 1.5" over stock. The front you can either leave alone for now or raise it 1.5" with SDORI BJ Spacers. That will help keep you CV angle down compared to raising it with the T-bar crank. With this you should be able to run 32's with no probelm. I have both in stock and ready to ship. Let me know if I can help.
