The brake light on the instrument panel of my '02 Sequoia illuminates while driving for no apparent reason. It will usually reset itself after the vehicle has been turned off. It used to happen only sporadically, but has become more frequent. All fluid levels and brake pads are in "normal" limits. Any Ideas?

 

Recheck your brake fluid level as often times the sensor for the fluid level is very sensitive.

 

Do your breaks still work great or are they getting spongy?

 

The brakes work great and there is no indication that anything is failing or wearing out. The fluid level is up, and doesn't appear to have any impact on the problem. My wife just drove it from NW Florida to Savanah, GA. The light came on once in traffic but once she shut it down and restarted it, it never happened again. Still looking for ideas.

 

I had a similar problem when my trailer wiring had a small short. Might be worth testing.
