ok.. guys. im gonna get a body lift. For those who have body lifts for awhile now, how are they? is the ride different? does if feel like its giong to flip while turning?.. please give experiences. THANK!!! oh yeah.. is $550 too much for a body lift installed? thanks

I've got a 2" BL on my 4Runner. Ride is no different, handling is only noticably different, but I don't drive it like a sports car. There is a bit more wind noise, and gas mileage is down just a bit.

i can agree to that, though i have a 1.5" body lift.
don't pay someone to get install the body lift. i was a bit intimidated at first, but it's really not that complicated to install, just a bit tedious.
unbolt body mount bolts
hi-lift one side, use wood block to secure, install blocks. repeat on other side.
rebolt the mounts with spacers in place.
if you need to install a steering extension, that's a little tougher, but manageable. just gotta be a bit nimble. a 1.5"er is pretty simple.

man thanks guys! i guess i have to wait for my buddy to weld up some sliders for me! I think that will be easier using my hilift instead of the stock jacks. If i lift up the frame with the hilift.. how do i raise the body to put in the spacer?
Does the handling seem dangerous on turns eventhough your at low speeds?

You dont jack the frame at all, put a 2x4 under the door and jack that up to raise the body. Dont go any higher then the spacer sizes since you will be stretching brake lines, AC lines, etc. The hardest part is to modify the 4 by shifter and the tranny linkage (if auto), which needs some welding. I did the bed one day and then the cab on another day.
Handling has not changed from the body lift, but it has from the suspension lift. gas mileage sucks now.

2 Hours my BUTT. more like 2 days.
I did a 3" Lift. if you live anywhere that see salt. FORGET IT, every bolt is going to be siezed. Most of mine where, Plus the bolts were siezed into the metal sleeve inside the body mount.
If you in an area that see salt and stuff. BUY new poly body mounts, Than take a Saws all and silmpy cut the old body mount and bolt right off and toss em. install the new body mount and lift puck and your done.
I SPENT HOURS and HOURS and HOURS trying to get the old hardware off.
Also Get the Roger Brown Kit, its WAY Better in design and strengh than PA Kit.

http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/BodyLiftKit.shtml Go here! Great education. You also might want to hold off with the slider install because a bodylift will move the body UP FURTHER and you may have an undesirable gap.

3" body lift, torsion bars full cranked, no sway-bar, 6"ish backspaced rims with 35x12.5's. My truck handles very good, no body roll in the curves to speak of. It doesn't feel "tippy", even way off camber, but it's probably due to my wheels stickin' out so far, around 4" or so. Working on my engine is my only complaint, neckache city.
