2002 tundra noise
Hello,
my 2002 toyota tundra has about 60k miles on it. It starts making noise sounding like it's from a pulley or something. I'm hoping it's the belt and I'm planning to change out the belt and see if that helps...with that milage, it's time to replace the belt anyways.
Can someone give me some instruction/hints to swap out the belt? I've replace belts on some other cars before but not the Tundra so some head ups info would be a great help. Thx.

If it's kinda squealing, it's the belt, especially the factory one. I don't know why it does this, I guess it has to do with the rubber composition and material. I highly recommend the Goodyear Gatorback belt as opposed to OEM on the belt, for one, the belt has more grip to it (supposedly based on the way it is cut) but more importantly it's a quiet belt. Every forum that I've been to recommends this belt from Ford lightnings to the tundra.
Anyway, the belt is replaced via spring tensioner. It is located on the passenger side area, you can use a simple breaker bar to loosen the tension by grabing the nut and turning it left (I believe it opposite the "righty-tighty" saying) and you need to route from underneath when putting the new one on (at least I did, I took off the skid plate to route).

Thank you for your recommendation. I'll give it a try next weekend. Yes, it's certainly is a small whinning noise that often goes away after 30 mins of driving or so.
As far as the "Goodyear Gatorback belt" brand, where can I get it? Do you happen to have the part # or it? I'm in Houston, TX and we have O'reilly, AutoZone and Pepboys...that's about it. I hope one of those location has it. Thx.

Hi, I Had The Same Problem With Mine @ 30k Miles. I Sprayed Wd40 On It While It Was Squealing.. And It Was Solved. I Just Sprayed It About 1.5' Away Only 2 Seconds. Ever Since Then (3weeks) No Squealing.
