05 tundra with a 4.7
Who out there has pulled way over the recommended weight with a older tundra. I am considering on loading up my flatbed trailer that weighs approximately 2200 lbs with 6000 lbs of hay and I am only going to be traveling approximately 50-60 miles. Yes I know that my truck is rated for only 6600 lbs and I don’t want to blow up my motor or screw up my truck by towing suck a heavy load. I am looking for someone who has done this before and what was the outcome? Did anything break or did the motor blow up?

**Disclaimer: I have never towed anything substantial**
My biggest concern would be stopping and general vehicle control.
While the engine and chassis may be able to handle the wait just fine, the brakes and suspension may not.
I would be concerned with keeping the truck under control.

Trailering
First thing to consider is getting the rig stopped safely. Trailer must have working brakes, tied to vehicle via brake control modulator. Second, I added "Air-Lift" bags to rear suspension. Third, take the truck out of overdrive if it's an automatic. Those three are a must. Extra transmission cooler may be necessary depending on your location, due to terrain and temperatures.
