05 tundra with a 4.7
Who out there has pulled way over the recommended weight with a older tundra. I am considering on loading up my flatbed trailer that weighs approximately 2200 lbs with 6000 lbs of hay and I am only going to be traveling approximately 50-60 miles. Yes I know that my truck is rated for only 6600 lbs and I don’t want to blow up my motor or screw up my truck by towing suck a heavy load. I am looking for someone who has done this before and what was the outcome? Did anything break or did the motor blow up?

**Disclaimer: I have never towed anything substantial**
My biggest concern would be stopping and general vehicle control. While the engine and chassis may be able to handle the wait just fine, the brakes and suspension may not. I would be concerned with keeping the truck under control. :safari: |
Trailering
First thing to consider is getting the rig stopped safely. Trailer must have working brakes, tied to vehicle via brake control modulator. Second, I added "Air-Lift" bags to rear suspension. Third, take the truck out of overdrive if it's an automatic. Those three are a must. Extra transmission cooler may be necessary depending on your location, due to terrain and temperatures.
