Towing capacity of 1988 FJ62

I looked in my owner's manual last night and read that the total trailer weight (trailer wt + its cargo load) must not exceed 3500 lb. Is that right? That seems low. I would have thought the LC could tow much more.

3500 is a wet dream. At that it will struggle like crazy.

But then again what do I know.

The 2.7 liter 4Banger in my 4runner pulls better than our FJ62.

Strange as it is, the 4.0 inline 6 does not pull very well.

Is it for sale?

I would love to, but

1. I don't have enough cash allocated for such a purpose
2. I have too many vehicles in the garage/driveway now
3. Cruisers' rear windows don't roll down for my dogs.

But just out of curiousity, what's your axing price?
