speakers for '97?

hi,
has anyone else noticed the rear speakers in 80 series really sound horrible? the fronts aren't bad, but fade to back adn they sound like an am radio.... (guess it's possible i don't have orig. speakers, too ? )

has anyone replaced speakers?

also stupid question (i haven't investigated), how many are there-- i've read varying reports...

thanks.

JC

I have aftermarket speakers on the front doors. The rear ones are kinda funky. They're quite small like 3 1/2" - 4" ones mounted on a weird bracket. I haven't replaced those ones yet 'cause I haven't found the correct ones that I think will fit. I already have some tweeters that I want to mount in the back. I'm running a subwoofer on a truck wedge box powered by a Jensen 300w amp. Hope to replace the stock head unit sometime soon.

Speakers? I think there are 2 fronts, 2 rears, 1 sub & amp(right rear panel)), 1 roof.
