Need to find a good Mechanic near Seattle

I’m going to start out by confessing my sins. I have owned a 1976 FJ 40 for 8 years and I am a horrible mechanic. I need help. I have been battling carburetor problems for some time. I have a non-usa vacuum advance distributor and non-usa Toyota carb. The cruiser arbitrarily picks between two different idle speeds each time I start it. It has good vacuum. Can you suggest something or lead me to someone good. I have taken it to a Mechanic I like but he can’t figure it out. Thanks

Hey fjmt,

I'm in Seattle as well, I think there are a fair number of Cruiserheads in the area. To address your problem, I'm not sure. Is it driveable at the moment? I think Randy's offroad (up north a little ways) does a fair amount of LC work and has a pretty good rep. Have you tried IH8MUD.com? There's a huge wealth of knowledge over there that might be able to help you out. Short of getting the carb rebuilt or replaced, I'm not sure what might be going on. Maybe a float is getting stuck?

Hey! Welcome to the world of Yotatech. I take it this is a 2F engine? Is it basicly stock except for the parts you mentioned?
